Marketplace Condition Guide

Condition labels are a starting point. The written description and actual-item photographs always provide the more specific account.

New

Unused merchandise with no expected wear. Packaging or retail tags may or may not be included, so the listing should say when they matter.

Like new

An item that appears barely used and has no significant functional or cosmetic problems. Very light signs of handling may exist.

Good

A fully usable item with ordinary visible wear. Examples include minor scratches, gentle edge wear, light fabric pilling, or small finish changes that do not prevent normal use.

Fair

A usable item with obvious wear, repairs, or cosmetic flaws. The price and description should reflect the condition, and buyers should inspect all photographs carefully.

Vintage

An older item whose age is part of its character. ‘Vintage’ is not a promise of perfect condition or a substitute for a condition description. Materials and finishes can change naturally over time.

When in doubt

Use the least flattering reasonable grade and describe the facts. Accurate expectations make a transaction better for everyone.
